If you buy things, which you do
(unless you are a vampire of course), you probably have been
asked if you wish to purchase additional insurance or an
extended warranty for a product or item you just
purchased. You might not know what to say most of the time but
most people think "I'm careful, I never break things! Only
other people break things!" Other people? You could be that
other person so you better be careful. Everybody breaks
things. So even though your first reaction would be "no way!"
you really need to think about it first.
What is an extended warranty? Well it's what it sounds like. A
warranty is something that promises to repair or replace
something if it fails to perform up to par. An extended
warranty is just that… only extended.
It's true though – in more cases than not, you will hopefully
not have to use your extended warranty. It is extremely
profitable to the company if you pay those extra few dollars
because it all adds up,
just like everything else. But if you end up breaking it or
something happening to it you will be eternally thankful you
bought the extended warranty.
Some quick questions you have to ask yourself are:
-Does this warranty cover the items which are the most
expensive?
-Is the entire item covered? If so you can bear in mind that
you have some decent coverage
-Make sure you aren't spending too much on this extended
warranty. It doesn't make sense to spend 200 dollars on an
item that costs 400 dollars
-Is the item expected to get some wear and tear? If you bought
an automobile of some kind than it will eventually need some
expensive repairs
-Are you going to replace it with a newer model eventually?
Better stick with the default warranty if you are going to buy
a newer version when it comes out
Think about these things before you make the final decision.
